Visit Eastern Sicily Offer

Algilà Ortigia Charme Hotel

Syracuse is the ideal base for a visiting all of Baroque Sicily and the Magna Graecia  without having to repack your bags.

Syracuse is the nexus of the main attractions of eastern Sicily: within 30 to 75 kilometers (18 to 43 miles) of the city there are as many as nine other locations included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites: Siracusa-Ortigia, Pantalica, Caltagirone, Militello Val di Catania, Catania, Modica, Noto, Palazzolo, Ragusa and Scicli.

There are also nature reserves and a seaside of great natural beauty. Every season here is very beautiful (the province of Syracuse is the one with the highest number of sunny days in Italy) and this offer, which is a further reduction on our Best Internet Rate, allows you to save even more on our already reduced low-season prices.

Making the Algilà Ortigia Charme Hotel your base means you won’t waste time repacking bags, and every evening you will be greeted as though you’ve arrived at home. You will experience the most comfortable of accommodations in the most beautiful historic center of Sicily, the only one that combines the charm of the Baroque, the Magna Graecia, and the Normans with the sight and smell of the sea!

You can plan for at least three days of sightseeing in Ortigia. Even without a car you can take in its palaces and Greek temples, museums, paintings by Caravaggio and Antonello da Messina, Castello Maniace as well as Castello Euralio. You can also take in the history of the Archaeological Park, the ancient Greek quarries, and the 2800-year-old Greek Wall.

While visiting Syracuse, you can also spend a day with a car or with organized excursions between Noto (38 kilometers / 24 miles, all highway), Noto Antica, the Reserve, with the tonnara and several of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily (Calamosche, Eloro), and the Ancient Roman mosaics of Villa Romana del Tellaro, Also available is the village of Marzamemi and its tonnara (an ideal stop for dinner) or the Cavagrande Reserve on the Cassibile river.
Another destination that is culturally rich is that of Scicli, a town dating back to the 4th century B.C., (approximately 80 kilometers/ 50 miles) that is also one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

You will need another day to visit Ragusa, Ibla, Scicli, Modica, and Palazzolo Acreide, a loop of 150 kilometers / 93 miles round trip, along the roads and through beautiful countryside inland.

The next day you should visit the prehistoric necropolis of Pantalica (30 kilometers/20 miles away), immersed in the natural reserve of the Anapo valley and the historic center of Catania. Of course there is also Mount Etna and Taormina if you do not want to break away from nature.

Do you have additional days at your disposal? A slightly longer trip will take you to Caltagirone, Piazza Armerina (with its unique Ancient Roman mosaics) and Militello Val di Catania. Or enjoy the nature, beaches, and coves, some of which, like those of the Plemmìrio Marine Reserve or the Ciane River Reserve, can be reached by boats that depart  500 meters / yards from the hotel.

If you are traveling by car, we will be happy to lend a TomTom navigator to guide you to the most secluded beaches or within the historic city centers.

The offer includes discounts on the room rate and/or complimentary dinner in our restaurant.

On request we can book airport transfers, car or bicycle rental with delivery to the hotel, boats, or other excursions.
